Our team consists of:

Hey guys. I know we haven’t updated in a while. I’ve lost internet and have had to resort to the library. We are still working on the game. (Well, some of us, while the others SAY they are working on it with no progress at all.)

Anyway, as a lot of you know, we are learning as we go. This is a both an educational project as well as one for entertainment.

While out concept artists have been coming up with scenes and items, I have been trying to master UDK. (Right before this project I only worked in the Source Engine.)

So, I guess I’ll go ahead and admit, I’m very proud of finally figuring out how to use a day and night system.

If you’d like to check out the really bad video, click here.

Everything in that video (Besides the skydome) belong to Unreal. They are built in meshes I used to make the scene look nicer.

Anyway, we are alowly getting back to work! That’s it for now.

-Daniel.

Working on turning Nicolle’s sketch into a 3d model. Colors not final, just molding the character. I even drew on the face [not very well] but it’s just to have a little more feel for what the character is going to look like. No, they will not be Avatars people.

2011 is going to be an alpha year for the Shadow Census team. Meaning we’re spending the year in concept, don’t expect to see any final work on here. None of us on the team are full time game designers so it’s impossible to dedicate 100% of our time on this.

Considering offering the option to play as a female instead of just the main character Alt.
Take people with really random interests and specialties that all like Pokemon and zombies and have them work on a video game. That’s how I’d describe it.
More concept!

Will there be any modern elements in the game? Or will it be strictly in the Japanese middle ages?

It’s going to be based on feudal Japan driven by magic and steampunk.

What programmes are you using to design/create your game?

We are using the Unreal 3 engine, 3DS and ZBrush so far.

We are still in the concept stages though so everything is just pen and paper (or MSPaint for me) to share ideas and concepts.

Small update.

We worked all day yesterday on concept. We want to get this game perfect (Perfect in our opinion at least) and we want it to have a solid story, so we are shaping the characters and landscape around the story.

With that, I feel like I should also let you all know that we don’t have a solid story yet. We have main ideas and we are trying to tie them together with great game-play without any boring repetition.

We have a lot of rough concepts that are pretty embarrassing right now, (MSPaint embarrassing) but Nicolle and Danielle are doing their best to interpret our ideas and their own onto paper as quickly as they can while keeping everything neat and tidy.

Anyway, we should have some concept sketches up for you to view and critique later today!
